Quit Nerfing SR!!!
In Response to Tuesdays update.
I understand that the Necromancer was a bit overpowered with their unlimited army size. Regretably the cap was necissary. So the only thing the Necro has is Soul Reaping. It's been nerfed once before and now they've gone and done it again! Really, when will it be enough?
The new attribute explanation should read thus:
Quote:
Soul reaping
You gain 1 energy anytime something dies. You may only gain energy in this way 4 times per hour. Few Necromancer skills, especially skills that deal with dead creatures around your foes, become less effective with higher soul reaping.
|
Please stop killing the Necromancer A-net, we didn't do anything to you.

SR is still great, and together with SoLS you have quite an e-management there.

not quite sure if you heard about this or not yellow, but there was (and probably still is) an overpowered build running rampant over in heroes ascent and some gvg called "spiritway."
this broken build called spiritway allowed necros and necro heroes to heal endlessly. which made monks as healers very unpopular amongst newer players to pvp...
not only was energy "endless"--the build was being abused over and over and over since just after nightfall release and up till yesterday. i imagine people will still be running it anyway to eek the last fames they can from a damaged build.
there are a few ways to handle spirit-heal necro builds and this pretty much ends the abuse. it does not affect pve all that much, when you look at the picture as a whole.
necros are necros anyway. they shouldn't need spirits to heal
hope that helps...not trying to be mean, but that build DID go on way too long...and as necro primary char, im glad this happened...:P

Did you even use spirits to fuel your energy in PvE? >_>

Yeah, I load Hero's up on em... they are handy for the start of a battle.
I have heard of spiritway, and the only way that I can think of to truly get rid of it is to get rid of SR altogether. The necro skillset was designed consciously or not around the idea of a battery. Who's energy recharges the fastest? Thanks to SR the Necro. Who does the team depend on for energy regen? Again, the Necro. They are the Alchemists of HP. And I see nothing wrong with spiritway. It is taking advatage of a facet of the game that is easily counterable... Via Spiritual Pain.

As PvE only player (mainly ranger, warrior and SS necro), this change doesn't affects me much, even with the 3 necros build you only had 1 spirit so it wasn't so critical.
Now it's high time to remove the clock from SR, since spiritway is gone.
What really scares me is that there are several PvP whiners who are asking to remove SR even from minions, this would kill the MM hero (I never play MM myself, heroes really humiliate at this any human player unfortunately).
I really hope that A.net will never listen at those wammos monks and eleshit asking for this.

I'm pretty sure my Soul Reaping reads
'For each Rank in Soul Reaping, you gain 1 energy whenever a non-spirit creature near you dies. You may only gain energy this way 3 times every 15 seconds.'
This happened, Tuesday you say? *looks at calendar.*
Seems to be Wendesday morning, maybe I'm on Drakken-time.
IF I'm *NOT* though, whats wrong with this? 36 energy every 15 seconds isn't good? for some classes thats more than a full bar. For my necro, that's a half bar or more. You mean to tell me you're going to kill things *every* 15 seconds on the dot, much less more than 3?
If so, might I ask your secret? *halo.*

I think removing energy gain from spirits is ok.
It is not only OK and good to prevent abuse, it makes also some sense lore-wise. Very much in contrast to things like pets leaving no exploitable corpses anymore.
I hope they do not change things even more. I can live with that.
People are already debating to remove the "3x in 15 seconds" timer elsewhere now that spirit energy gain is totally gone.
My suggestion would be he leaves things as they are now and promises never ever to fiddle around with Soul Reaping again.

The timer should be removed.
No corpses from pets is insane.
Removing energy gain from minions would be an atrocity. It would actually make me quit the game.

Seeing as this was all that was needed to fix the HA issue they should revert SR back to the way it was before timers etc and leave it to not trigger on spirits.

Not kill, necessarily: minions might DIE more rapidly, however. At the higher end bits of the game, they most certainly do: you can go from an army of 10 down to 2 or 3 in less than ten seconds if you get mobbed by a bunch of eles or similar. It'd be nice if you could at least benefit (energy-wise) from such a setback.

Sums it up perfectly.

Let's not view this as just nerf, let's view this as an opportunity to get an even worse nerf reversed. Post your opinions in this thread. Get a-net's attention. Necromancers of the world unite!

I doubt he did. Many people are complaining just for the hell of it. If you're a heavy pve player, the last nerf to SR shouldn't bother you at all.
Any N/Rt build with spirits hardly got nerfed in pve - there's still plenty of deaths and shouldn't affect it's energy that bad.

HECK YES soo true and i feel the same way those builds brought shame to the Rit Necro and Monk classes.
I think the nerfe to energy gain from spirits was good but when did they apply the "..this can only be use 4 times per hour..." WTH is that? it would be understandable if we could choose When to use the 4 uses but yeah we don't so it fails.. with that nerf isn't it difficult to run MM?? i wouldnt know havent been on my MM in a wile fill me in plz!

Yes I WAS being sarcastic... And it's not so much about the fact that this did or did not hurt PVE, it's more of a "hey why can't you just leave us alone?!?!"
Why do they try and fix things that aren't broken? What is the point? If it works, leave it alone!!!
